Jo-Anne Bishop

JABJo-Anne is an evaluation, gender and human rights expert with senior leadership experience in fragile states. She co-led the ImpactReady evaluation of UN Women’s contribution to women’s economic empowerment 2011-2014.

Jo-Anne has 15 years of experience supporting and advising governments, national institutions and intergovernmental organizations in the areas of human rights, gender equality, gender mainstreaming and non- discrimination. She has specific experience in the area of gender-responsive planning and budgeting (GRB) through her role as team leader for a multi-country evaluation of a GRB-related UN Women project as well as through her role as advisor to the Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality in Timor-Leste where she advised on GRB programming, training and also supported government ministries to increase financing for gender equality. She also served as the lead author of a UN Women study that identified entry points to ensure a gender-responsive decentralization process for Liberia including recommendations for increased financing for gender equality at the local level.

Jo-Anne is based in Bangkok, Thailand.
